Campus Achoo

Contact Tracing Mobile App

About: A mobile app solution for universities to control the spread of COVID-19 on campus. Using principles of contact tracing, self-reporting, and symptom monitoring for students to maintain health privacy while protecting their campus community.

Class: ARTT457 | Principles of Interaction Design

The Problem

During the Covid-19 pandemic, universities had issues regulating student behavior and creating a safe learning environment.

Colleges delayed opening or moved online due to unsafe student behavior and lack of proper facilities.

The Solution

A contact tracing mobile app available to all students, faculty, and staff on campus to keep infection rates low.

This app aims to share important info quickly, give students the ability to report supply shortages, and track their health.

User Personas

I developed the following user personas of potential app users based on answers from surveys with undergraduate and graduate students.

Paper Prototype

I created a low-fidelity paper prototype to preview the organization and navigation of the mobile app.

Navigation & User Flow

I used a sitemap to help organize the functions of this app. I wanted to focus on providing helpful information to the user and making sure their sensitive data, such as location and health metrics, were easily available to them.

Design System

The app name, color system, and icon design were all motivated by relatability.

I want users to perceive the app as friendly and funny rather than intrusive. I opted to use green hues of blue rather than cobalt to keep it cool and less clinical.
